Our Beneficiaries

Aloka was founded with a mission to support artisans from vulnerable communities across Myanmar. Many of these artisans have lost their livelihoods due to a collapsing economy, and we are committed to helping them get back on their feet by allowing their goods to be sold in the United States.

In addition, since the military coup in Myanmar on February 1st, the founders of Aloka have been committed to helping those affected by the violence and instability. Myanmar is a country with a long history of military rule and human rights abuses, and the recent coup has brought these problems back to the forefront.

For this reason, we donate a share of our proceeds to urgent humanitarian projects across Myanmar. One of the nonprofit missions we donate to is Better Burma. Their programs provide food, water, and medical supplies to those who need it most, especially IDP camps. Additionally, Better Burma supports local media, through Insight Myanmar Podcast and Myanmar Revolutionary Tales, which amplifies voices from Myanmar so that more people around the world may better understand the ongoing democracy movement.
